We learned from Ford officials that the suspension of F-150 Lightning production was caused by a battery fire in an F-150 Lightning model on the factory production line on February 4. At the same time, it was announced that production would be resumed no earlier than February 23rd.
Officials said in February that production of the F-150 Lightning was discontinued, saying it was due to a "potential battery issue" discovered during pre-delivery quality inspections. Immediately, SK Group, the battery supplier for the F-150 Lightning, confirmed that it was investigating the battery issue. Ford later confirmed that the production shutdown would last at least three weeks.
Currently, the production of Ford F-150 Lightning is about 15,000 units, and Ford said that the models that have been delivered to dealers can continue to be sold.
