BAIC Group recently announced that Mr. Luo Weiji, the world's outstanding Chinese designer, will officially join the BAIC design team in October 2024 and serve as BAIC Group's global design VP and chief design officer.

According to information, Luo Weiqi's design career began at Lotus Cars. While at Lotus Cars, he designed the distinctive Carlton and participated in the design of some other famous cars, such as the Isuzu 4200R concept car.

In 1990, Luo Weiqi joined Audi in Germany and worked on advanced design projects. He was involved in the design of the Audi AVUS Quattro concept car, which perfectly captured the vision of the Audi brand and influenced the design of many cars of the era. He was then hired by Mercedes-Benz to join the company's newly established advanced design studio in Japan, where he devoted himself to the design of the Maybach concept car F 200 Imagination, and had a major impact on the design of the W221 S-Class sedan with the in-house concept car. .

Since then, Luo Weiji has served as senior design director of General Motors Europe. During this time he had overall responsibility for Saab, Opel and Vauxhall projects, in particular leading the development of the Saab Aero-X concept car. While in charge of Saab, Luo Weiqi worked in Sweden as Saab design director.

From 2010 to 2021, as Vice President of Renault Exterior Design, Luo Weiqi led his design team to develop a unique design language for the new and outstanding Renault and Dacia product lines. In addition, he played an important role in the development of Renault's "Life Cycle" design strategy, bringing the Renault brand to the forefront of design leadership. Since then, Luo Weiji has been appointed Ford's global chief design officer, responsible for creating a consistent brand experience through a series of products and services that are unique, reliable and true to the Ford and Lincoln brand values.
