On November 13, Bitauto editors captured a set of real car pictures of the new BMW X3 long wheelbase version while visiting the 2024 Guangzhou Auto Show on the eve of the opening. Based on the standard version, the wheelbase of the new car has been extended by 110mm to 2975mm, which is consistent with the standard wheelbase version of the BMW X5. It will be officially launched in the first quarter of next year.
In terms of appearance, the overall design of the new car remains the same as that of the new BMW X3. Adopting the original stone cutting profile design concept, the new front face adopts a split BMW ring-shaped grille for the first time, which is larger, more eye-catching and more recognizable than the previous generation. The sensor is cleverly hidden, breaking through the traditional vertical and horizontal decorative strips and smoothly connecting the hood rib lines.
In terms of headlights, the double L-shaped angel eye headlights adopt an integrated design of high and low beams, and the light source gradually extends outward to further widen the visual width of the front of the car. The daytime running lights are sharper than the classic ring shape, giving the front of the car a more modern and distinctive vitality. The new arrow-feather-shaped taillights are integrated with the rear of the car, and the double L-shaped light strips form a powerful "X" shape.
The new BMW X3 long wheelbase version has an extended wheelbase for the first time, increasing by 110mm from the standard wheelbase version to 2975mm, which is consistent with the BMW X5 standard wheelbase version. In terms of other dimensions, the length of the new car reaches 4865mm and the width reaches 1920mm. The lengthening of the wheelbase will greatly increase the seating space in the car. In addition, the thickness and length of the rear seats of the new car are also thicker and longer, and the comfort is also significantly improved.
At the rear, it uses a new arrow-feather-type taillight, and double L-shaped light strips form a powerful "X" shape. Together with the spoiler above the roof and the diffuser below, it has a strong sense of sportiness.
In terms of the interior, the overall design of the new car adheres to BMW’s design concepts of “simplification to explain complexity” and “driver-centered”. Equipped with BMW's latest generation operating system and an integrated floating curved screen, combined with an enveloping interactive light strip, it creates a simple, suspended and technological cockpit atmosphere. In addition, the new car is also equipped with a panoramic star track canopy, which provides drivers and passengers with a wider view of the sky and a wider sense of space. At the same time, the color of the star track canopy can also be changed according to different driving theme modes (My Modes).
In terms of power, referring to the previously released new BMW X3, the new car offers three options: 20 xDrive, 30 xDrive, and M50 xDrive. Among them, the 20 xDrive is a 2.0T+48V light hybrid system, the 30e xDrive uses a 2.0T+ motor to form a plug-in hybrid system, and the M50 xDrive will use a 3.0T+48V light hybrid system.
The fuel version uses a 2.0T engine and a 48V mild hybrid system, with a maximum power of 208 horsepower in 20 xDrive, 30 xDrive has a maximum power of 259 horsepower, and the transmission system is matched with an 8-speed automatic manual gearbox. The plug-in hybrid version uses a combination of 2.0T engine and motor. The system has a combined maximum power of 299 horsepower and a peak torque of 450 Nm. It will be equipped with a 19.7kWh battery, which can provide a pure electric range of up to 90 kilometers; the M50 xDrive is equipped with a 3.0T in-line The combination of a six-cylinder engine and a 48V motor has a maximum power of 398 horsepower and an acceleration time of 0-100km/h in 4.6 seconds.
