A few days ago Lu Fang, CEO of Lantu Automobile, posted on social media that some people think that fuel vehicles can also be made intelligent. I don’t think smart vehicles can be made based on traditional fuel vehicles. But traditional car companies can make smart cars through transformation. Lantu Automobile is to replace traditional high-end fuel vehicles with high-end smart new energy vehicles.

Some people think that fuel vehicles can also be made intelligent.

I also have some thoughts on this issue. I thought the same way in 2015. The public opinion environment at that time was that only Internet companies could make smart cars, and traditional car companies could not. I believed at the time that traditional car companies could also build smart cars based on fuel vehicles. After repeated thinking and practice, around 2016, my idea changed. I thought it was impossible to make a smart car based on traditional fuel vehicles.

Let’s look at a premise first. Until now, intelligence has been based on the rapid development of electronic technology, accelerated upgrades of chip and communication technology, and continuous iteration of algorithms.

Fuel vehicles and smart vehicles must also be based on the development of electronic technology. However, fuel has inherent shortcomings such as long system response time and insufficient redundancy in terms of intelligence, which has led to the slow progress of intelligence in fuel vehicles. In other words, fuel vehicles are not the best carrier for intelligence.

For fuel vehicles, the main function of fuel is to drive the engine and drive the movement of the vehicle, but it does not have the ability to drive computing. As for trams, electricity can not only drive the movement of the entire vehicle, but also drive the intelligent equipment of the entire vehicle, that is, drive computing. Although REV and PHEV also use fuel, they are only a source of extended-range hybrid, and are essentially new energy vehicles. Understood from this level, the function of the car hasHuge changes have taken place, not just in movement, but also in calculations. The purpose of computing is to realize the intelligence of the car. This intelligence includes the intelligence of the cockpit and intelligent driving.

A vehicle is an object that moves at high speed. If a vehicle is to become intelligent and provide users with a complete, comprehensive, and safe intelligent experience, it requires not only a new design of the vehicle's electronic and electrical architecture and software architecture, but also a new design of the vehicle's perception system, information transmission system, and computing system. , the reconstruction of the control system also requires structural innovation of the mechanical hardware architecture. The electronic and electrical architecture of fuel vehicles is still mainly distributed, and it is difficult to achieve centralized architecture.

But, are traditional car companies unable to make smart cars? I think traditional car companies can make smart cars through transformation. First of all, the thinking must be transformed, and the structural form of smart cars must be fundamentally re-understood, and corresponding technological and management innovations must be matched.

Lantu Automobile aims to help China’s automobile industry transform into intelligent connected new energy vehicles through its efforts. Lantu Auto also wants to replace traditional high-end fuel vehicles with high-end smart new energy vehicles.
